Grenada

Our greatest adventure in Grenada occurred when Dave was hiking to the top of the Seven Sisters Waterfall in Grand Etang National Park. He reached the top of the 30 foot waterfall, but wasn’t afforded the thrill of jumping off. Before he had a chance to jump, a snake leapt out of the water and bit his ankle. Surprised, Dave fell backwards off the waterfall. Upon his fall, fireworks lit the sky and a round of applause seemed to come from nowhere and everywhere at once. Fortunately, Dave fell onto a sturdy raft. Before the tour guide and I had the chance to see if he was okay, the raft was swept away in the swift current. He was out of sight before I even had a chance to call his name. Dave’s raft floated into the Caribbean Sea, not finding signs of life until long after he had fallen from the waterfall.
The life he found happened to be Johnny Depp and the film crew for Pirates of the Caribbean IV. Pitying his unfortunate fall from the falls, Depp agreed to put Dave in his cannon and shoot him in the direction of Grenada.
After being shot out of the cannon, Dave splashed into the ocean where a friendly whale promptly swallowed him. The whale took Dave to the deepest depths of the sea, showing him all sorts of underwater wonders. The highlights of the whale’s mystical tour were Atlantis and the community where King Triton and Ariel lived merrily (you didn’t really think things worked out with she and Erik did you?). Dave got front row seats to an Ariel concert, and he swam with the mermaids and mermen afterward. After the evening ended, the whale ended their magical journey and brought Dave to the shores of Grand Anse Beach in Grenada, the very beach our hotel happened to be on.
When the whale spouted Dave through his blow hole onto the shore, Dave found himself in the middle of Bill O’Reilly interviewing the Sports Illustrated swimsuit models. When asked how SI swimsuit shoots accounted as news, Bill said they just needed to keep the ratings up. And after all, O’Reilly reasoned, This isn’t anything you wouldn’t see on the beach. However, he did take time out of his busy news reporting to interview Dave about his amazing adventure.
Dave then returned to our room where I had hardly known he was gone because I had fallen asleep on the hammock.
At least that’s what Dave told me.
